Hygrometers
Hygrometers let you know
what the humidity levels are
inside of your humidor.
Eventually, all
hygrometers need to be re-calibrated be it
an inexpensive unit or one that cost hundreds of dollars.
If you suspect that your
Savinelli hygrometer is not giving
you a correct reading, it may be that re-calibration is needed.
This can be accomplished
by carefully following the instructions
shown below.
______________________________________________________
Never pull the entire
hygrometer unit from its base as it is secured using
double sided foam tape which will tear if pulled and then you'll need to
supply a new strip to re-mount.
1. Peel away the brass ring
by placing thumb on crystal face and gently
pull off the brass ring. This ring holds everything in place.
2. Let the clear crystal fall out.
3. Gently tap
unit to allow hygrometer gauge to fall out.
Be careful not to touch indicator needle or spring on
backside.
4. Place hygrometer inside a
zip lock bag along with a moist paper
towel (not dripping wet) and zip bag closed for about 30 minutes.
5. Gauge should eventually read 95% humidity.
6. If not, you need to
adjust setting and to do this, carefully move
the outer most tab (back of hygrometer)
attached to end of spring,
clockwise or counter clockwise which will make indicator (on
face of
hygrometer) move up or down scale. Set at 95%.....
........NEVER TOUCH SPRING!
7. Put hygrometer back in bag and make sure it remains at 95%.
8. Re-assemble carefully and hygrometer should now work correctly.
9. Always be sure to use a
humidity controlling liquid with distilled water
to prevent over-humidification.
